I look forward to reading your post.

Depending on the time of your flight, El Tango may be convenient. If it is, I definitely recommend it. Also in Lakewood is the Buckeye Beer Engine.

It was nice meeting you, too. Have a pleasant stay.

I posted them a few days ago. They went up in this batch but my blog only posts thumbnails for the first 10. Here’s the set:

That includes pictures from another dinner last February.

Thanks for dinner. I enjoyed it very much. Chef’s Garden is a very impressive operation.

I haven’t been there. And judging from a couple reviews and their menu, I am interested. It’s always nice when someone else wants to try a restaurant. It saves me the stress of calculating the exact right amount of time to wait before my first visit.

I think they’ve been open for a few months. They can’t possibly have been open very long. They’re the third restaurant in that space since Lion and Lamb closed.

some stuff I read on 03/25/2009

First of all, I’m sorry it took so long to reply. I was out of town.

It’s my fault for making it a little confusing. The hashtag was #clevelandspecials. Not #clevespecials. The robot actually changed #clevelandspecials to #clevespecials. I had a reason at the time but if I knew what I was doing I would have done it right the first time. Maybe I’ll explain more some time when it isn’t 4am but the short answer is that I was dumb and made everything way too complicated.

In the mean time, it should be fixed so that it works with either #clevelandspecials or #clevespecials. Your two old tweets should also show up. Of course, this whole project has been one big sequences of guesses and corrections, so keep your fingers crossed. They might not or they might show up 100 times. (Preventing that sort of thing was the misguided rationale for half of what was originally wrong.)

Thank you very much for pointing this out.

Also, I’ve been following your blog. It’s a schlep to get out to Black River but the specials sound and look fantastic. In addition to being out of town for a while, my dinner calendar has been stuffed but I’m going to make a point of getting out there very soon.

I have no idea whether they make anything from scratch.

I’m not very discriminating when it comes to adding a Cleveland restaurant website to del.icio.us. I think I added the Ugly Broad because their website said something about a mechanical bull.

I saw it in someone’s facebook status update.

Friday Salmagundi (Buckeye Beer Engine, Sapore, Culinary Vegetable Institute)

The Beer Engine newsletter announced another burger milestone. It looks like the pace may be even a little higher than my second estimate. The question now is whether I want to also go on the 19th just for a little insurance even though I’m estimating that the burger will be served on the 20th.

fire and Moxie Specials and Wine Dinners

I’m spamming my poor blog trying to test the facebook connect plugin. We’ll know it’s working when I successfully start spamming my facebook news stream.

fire and Moxie Specials and Wine Dinners

The pork chop was pretty good. The roasted bacon really helped. When the pork chop at fire realizes its true potential it has that combination of flavors without the extra bacon.

I just added Facebook connect to my blog. Readers can now sign in with their facebook identities. They’ll also have the option to publish their comments to facebook which I’ll do with this comment.

Hopefully their comments will be relevant to the post unlike this one.

Almost all of pictured dishes are on the menu. If you choose something from the menu, I can’t imagine you’ll have any communication difficulties. The staff are all native Chinese speakers but they’re all fluent, or at least proficient, in English.

The soups are great. I particularly like some of the soups that are eaten as entrees: the beef noodle soup, the (Vietnamese) bun bo hue, the chicken noodle soup. The roast duck. The steamed (boiled?) chicken is a plain dish but I think it’s delicious. The fried chicken. The (Vietnamese) char broiled beef. The fried tofu is great. Those are the items that popped into my head first.

Once I discovered Siam Cafe, I pretty much stopped eating Chinese food anywhere else in Cleveland. I’ve occasionally venture to some other Vietnamese restaurant, but much of the Vietnamese food at Siam Cafe is also excellent.

I hope you enjoy your meal. Please come back and let us know how your meal went.

Monday Salmagundi (Giovanni's II, Restaurant Week, Valentine's at Lucky's and Sapore)

I went and the meal was very good. I hope you’ll be doing this sort of thing more often. What other changes do you think you’ll be able to make with Chef Wong around?

I took pictures. They’re already on flickr but they’re hidden until I add titles and descriptions. Hopefull, I’ll make them visible some time in the next couple days. Soon after that, they’ll automatically show up as thumbnails on my blog.

I don’t think I know anything that you don’t already know yourself. I just noticed the changes about 5 minutes ago. It is very sudden and that is worrisome, doubly so due to the lack of notice. Everything I snip on snipd gets sucked into my blog and it’s actually duplicated on my hard drive, too. I won’t lose any data if snipd goes down. I’m not sure specifically what I’d replace them with but for my purpose, I know that there are several other suitable services.

Thanks. Restaurant atmosphere certainly isn’t conducive to good photography.

The soup is from Garden Cafe. It’s next door to Koko Bakery.

I’m worried that I might not get to try everything on the menu because the place may not be around for long. I’m judging only based on the lack of customers on my one visit. Hopefully, there will be more customers the next time. I’m definitely planning to go back soon.

Some stuff I read - on 01/14/2009

$25 billion is a lot of money. There can’t be too many companies with that kind of market capitalization. Or did he mean revenue? I assume a decent reference librarian would be able to help you find the small number of companies but not me. I think Amazon and Ebay are the only pure etailers with numbers like that. They both require registration, right? It must be the online face of a brick-and-mortar store. I googled a little and someone seems to think it might be Best Buy. His explanation made sense.

The Best Hamburger in Cleveland

Yes, I have had the Tap House burger. I had the Asian burger. I have to say it was pretty good but mostly it’s the condiments that I remember. One complaint I had was that the burger was too big. It throws off the mechanics of eating the burger which affects how the flavors mix. Anyway, I’ve been meaning to go back.

I think I’ve fatty upped enough sandwiches for a while. I’m looking forward to the regular sasquatch.
