Help Cleveland Decide Where To Eat With Twitter

Would you like to hear about our specials?

Would you like to hear about our specials?

I look forward to specials when I eat out and I think that twitter would be a great way to help people share information about specials at their favorite Cleveland area restaurants. A few days ago I started tweeting about them. I hope that some people find it interesting or useful. It’s also very easy so I hope that some people will start sharing restaurant specials that they hear about.

Just remember to tweet the specials every time you eat out and add the hash tag: #clevelandspecials. Your tweet will be automatically retweeted by @clevespecials for everyone’s benefit. If you want to be aware of local restaurant specials, just follow @clevespecials on twitter.

Sapore updates the menu on their website every week and I can say with certainty that it draws me to the restaurant more often. It’s one thing to know that Sapore is an excellent restaurant but it’s another thing entirely to know that this  Saturday they’re serving creamy onion soup, corn pudding, rice pudding, roasted clams and chicken with olives, fennel and artichokes. Twitter is even better than updating a website. It doesn’t really on the patron to come back week after week checking for specials. Tweets go to them.

If you’re not familiar with twitter, please don’t let that stop you. Using twitter is as easy as sending a text message or making a facebook status update. Go to twitter.com to sign up and get started. You can tweet via text from your phone, on twitter’s web site, from your facebook page or with a dedicated client. You can follow tweets on the web, in a newsreader, with text messages on your phone or in any number of dedicated twitter programs.

Please share with @clevespecials as often as you can. Again, it’s just as easy as sending a tweet with “#clevelandspecials” in it, the name of the restaurant and a (very) short  summary of the night’s specials.  And please encourage the staff at your favorite restaurants to use it. They can tweet a special early in the afternoon hours before I hear about it from my waitron. I created a separate page (http://stuartspivack.com/blog/clevelandspecials-faq/) to describe the setup in slightly more detail. Please encourage them to take a look at it. If you’d like a sharp looking mini business card with a link to that page, I’d be happy to mail some to you. Email me your address. I use similar cards to give people the URLs for my blog and flickr page and everyone agrees that they look nice.

If you have any questions, you can see whether it’s answered here. Alternately, feel free to ask in the comments to this post. Or, tweet @stu_spivack. Or email me.

Thank you very much for your patient attention.
