Tuscany is a new restaurant venture from the management of Giovanni’s. It’s always exciting to hear about a casual restaurant with high standards. There are some restaurants that serve specific types of sandwiches well (hamburgers and corned beef, for instance) but Cleveland still doesn’t have a lot of good sandwich options.
Cleveland Restaurant Week is this month. Where should I go? Don’t be afraid to recommend a corporate restaurant. I very rarely eat at a restaurant like that but not out of principle. So if you think the food is good, I’m happy to take any recommendation under consideration.
I’ve only scanned some of the menus. (PDFs? Forty different PDFs? Seriously?) Johnny’s has cassoulet. Corner Alley has a fresh donut for dessert. Middle East Restaurant has Lebanese cheesecake.
I got an email from Vine and Bean. That’s Lucky’s sister restaurant on Larchmere. They’re having a Valentine’s Day dinner. The announcement is mysterious. The dinner will be prepared by “two notable Cleveland chefs.” The Vine and Bean website mentions only one chef. Chef Heather Haviland is the chef at Lucky’s and she’s promised a chocolatey dessert. I know Chef Strizak, formerly of Parker’s,helped out at Lucky’s. At least, he made their sausage for a while. Are they being mysterious or did they just forget to mention it? I’d like to know who the mystery chef is.
I can’t say enough good things about Sapore. I’ve made reservations to go their this Friday night. Lately, I’ve been going enough to eat everything on the menu before they change it. Their Valentine’s Day menu will have some items from their current menu. Others will be switched out and replaced. According to my hazy recollections, there will be: a chocolate tart, a lobster ravioli and hangar steak. I was told that I snagged one of the last spots so I recommend calling immediately if you’re interested.
I installed Zemanta, a firefox extension. It reads my blog posts as I write them and it recommends links and media for me to add. Right now, it’s recommending that I add a picture of Rafael Nadal. Honestly, maybe that’s exactly what all of my blog posts need.

Thanks for the notice. We have recently added Chef Ky-wai Wong (formerly of Table 45, Instructor at Tri-C and trained in LA and London) to our staff. He will be assisting with the special dinner. He has also created some amazing new items for the Lucky’s menu. Best Reuben in the World!

I went and the meal was very good. I hope you’ll be doing this sort of thing more often. What other changes do you think you’ll be able to make with Chef Wong around?
I took pictures. They’re already on flickr but they’re hidden until I add titles and descriptions. Hopefull, I’ll make them visible some time in the next couple days. Soon after that, they’ll automatically show up as thumbnails on my blog.
